Who we are

Cape Byron Excavations, ABN 76 044 883 567, of 62 Kingsvale Rd, Myocum NSW 2481. Previously trading as Southern Excavations and Byron Bay Excavations.

What this website collects

Nothing. This site is a set of plain pages. It has no contact form, no login, no shopping cart and no newsletter signup.

We do not use Google Analytics or any other tracking tool. We do not set cookies. We do not build a profile of you, and we do not run advertising pixels.

The only outside service the pages use is Google Fonts, which loads the typefaces. Google receives your IP address when that happens, in the same way it would for any website using their fonts. We receive nothing from it.

Our web host, Vercel, keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, which page was requested). That is normal for any website and we do not use those logs for marketing.

What we collect when you contact us

If you phone, text or email Greg, we will have whatever you choose to tell us. Usually that is:

• Your name and phone number
• Your email address, if you email
• The job address and what you need done
• Site details, photos or plans you send us

We use that to quote the job, do the work, and invoice you. That is all.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information and we never give it to marketers.

We may pass on the minimum needed to get your job done, for example to a subcontractor, a truck operator, a surveyor, a tip or quarry, or our accountant. We also hand over information where the law requires it, such as to the Australian Taxation Office or a court.

Your email sits in Greg's Gmail account, so Google holds a copy the same way it holds any email.

How long we keep it

Quotes and job records are kept for at least seven years, because tax law requires it. Photos and notes for a finished job are kept while they are useful and deleted when they are not.

Keeping it safe

Job records live on password-protected phones and computers. We take reasonable steps to protect them, though no system is ever completely secure.

Seeing or deleting your information

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Call or email Greg and we will sort it out. There is no charge and we will get back to you within 30 days.

We may need to keep some records even after a deletion request where tax or legal obligations require it.

Children

This site is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect information about them.

Where we stand legally

As a small business we are not currently bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), which applies to businesses turning over more than $3 million a year. We follow the spirit of it anyway, because it is the right way to treat people. If that threshold ever changes or our turnover grows, we will comply in full.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
